Overview of Church Hill Missions
 

Disaster Response:

Whenever there is a disaster anywhere in the US or around the world, gifts given through Church Hill UMC go to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) which provides direct aid, with no overhead taken.  

Tangible Gifts and Assistance by members of our congregation:

·       Monthly meals served at Father Bill's in Quincy.

·       Socks for the Southampton Shelter, Boston.

·       Food for local Food Pantries.

·       A Christmas Day meal offered free to any and all (over 100 attend each year).

·       Christmas Angel Tree - gifts for local families and shelter

·       Health Kits for UMCOR relief

·       City Reach weekend to learn about life as a homeless person in Boston

·       Re-run shoe collection

*   UMCOR Sunday — an ecumenical offering supporting hunger relief 

*   Native American Ministries

*   Peace with Justice

*   World Communion Sunday

o Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve offering for Father Bill’s Meals

 

o Heifer International, Nothing but Nets, UMCOR

 

o Mothers’ Day Blankets and Father’s Day Tools for refugee relief through Church World Service

    

Summer Missions Focus during the past 7 years: (A special missions emphasis during worship throughout the summer) 

     2009: Heifer International Project—Goats

        2010: Haitian relief, Baby Kits

        2011: Haitian relief, Build a House

     2012:  Bicycles for Ugandan Health Workers

     2013:  Dignity Cards, quarters, and backpacks for City Reach Homeless

     2014:  Continued all missions with emphasis on City Reach

     2015:  Socks for Southampton Shelter and backpacks for City Reach

    2016:  Bike Not Bombs – Collected 104 bikes and $200.00 donation.  Sponsored “Holy Smoke Festival with bands, barbecue,
     Cupcake decorating and Farmer’s Market.
